Affiliate disclosure

Amazon links on this site and on our channels are ads. This page explains what that means and how we choose deals.

Amazon Associates

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

BBT Deals takes part in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that lets sites earn fees by linking to Amazon. Those fees pay for the site and our channels.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link takes you to Amazon and carries our Associates ID. If you buy something on Amazon after clicking it, Amazon pays us a commission.

These links always point straight to Amazon; we never route them through link shorteners. The short links in our posts (links.bbtdeals.com) open our own product page, not Amazon.

Your price doesn't change

Amazon pays the commission, not you. Your price is the same, and you never have to click or buy anything.

How we label ads

The FTC's Endorsement Guides ask us to disclose when we earn money from a link, right where you see the link. So we label every one.

On the site, every Amazon button has an “Ad” label next to it. On our channels, every post carries #ad.

The product pages our posts link to carry the same label next to their Amazon button.

No one pays to be listed, and there are no sponsored placements.

How we choose and score deals

Our reference price is a product's median price over the last 90 days.

On the site we call this the “90-day average” for short; we calculate it as a median so one-off price spikes don't skew it.

We first filter out products with too few reviews or low ratings, out-of-stock items, and adult products. Everything else gets a deal score from 0 to 100, made up of:

  • Discount vs. the 90-day median: up to 35 points
  • Historic low: up to 15 points, with full points when the price is the lowest in 90 days or the lowest we've ever recorded
  • Rating and number of reviews: up to 15 points
  • Sales rank in its category: up to 15 points
  • Deal type, such as a lightning deal, Prime exclusive, or coupon: up to 10 points
  • Seller: up to 10 points; sold by Amazon ranks above shipped by Amazon, which ranks above a third-party seller

How we show prices

We show a price only if we fetched it from Amazon's API less than 24 hours ago. It always appears with the time of our last check and Amazon's price disclaimer.

If the price is older, or we couldn't get it from Amazon, you'll see “See price on Amazon” instead, next to the discount percentage we calculated. The price on Amazon at the time of purchase is the one that applies.

We don't use Amazon's struck-through list price as a reference. Inflated list prices make discounts look bigger than they are.

When deals expire

A deal expires automatically when the price goes back above the 90-day median, the item sells out, or Amazon's deal badge ends.

Expired deal pages stay online and are marked as expired.
